From Aspects of Leonard*
I asked Leonard if Virginia and he had thought of her undergoing analysis to
cure her recurring nervous illness. As the publishers of the works of Sigmund
Freud in English, they must surely have considered such a possibility. Leonard
hesitated a moment, thinking, and then told me that Virginia had never really
wanted to follow that up; she was always, perhaps, afraid that psychoanalysis would destroy her writing gift.
